Q: I had a clarification question about the above study. We are told to record the MEAN 02 saturation at 5 minutes of life. Does that mean we have to take several 02 measurements between 5-6 minutes of life and average that out as the MEAN 02 saturation? Or, is it strictly the 02 and Fi02 measurement obtained at exactly 5 minutes of life. Thanks for clarifying.

A.  it is just the reading at 5 minutes of life.  Sometimes that can be referred to as "mean oxygen saturation" as the reading can be an averaging of the measurements that the machine receives.

So again - just the reading at 5 minutes (or around that time as close as possible) is intended - NOT an average of several values.
